About me

Wanderlust Mountain Girl is a blog about the adventurous, wanderlust, dreaming, nomadic soul of me; Heather.

For as long as I can remember I’ve been one who is prone to wander and always chasing a dream of living a romanticized, wanderlust life. A life that is full of adventure, travel, dreams, and ambition.

First and foremost I am a writer. I’m a writer of my travels, adventures, and food. Gosh, I love food. And wine. And tequila. And craft beer. And avocados. Oh! And Montana, the mountains, the desert, lakes, and rivers. Yup! I’m a lover of all things that scream the WEST!

I’m a gal who is now in her 30’s sort of having a turn of life thing going on where I’m chasing what and who I truly am. No more chasing dreams that are no longer mine and that I truly do not enjoy. Gone are the days of pleasing those just because “we” think that’s the right thing to do.

I think at some point every woman reaches this point to where they say, “FVUCK THIS SHIT!” and start living their own life in their own way. Granted, I am married, so it can’t all be about me, or can it?

The trick is finding the right way in which to build a life of true balance that I can be happy with and know that I have a fulfilling life.

Now for the mushy stuff that everyone loves to hear about ….

I was diagnosed with PCOS about 12 years ago. Since then, I’ve battled weight gain, mild depression, and so many other awesome and amazing symptoms in which doctors still have not a flippin’ clue how to cure or deal with so I became my own “doctor”. Sorry for the heinous run-on sentence but, it had to happen.

I studied holistic nutrition and herbalism and found things that worked for my body.

I found that my body does best with a ketogenic diet, that as long as I stop worrying about shit I can’t control my depression is uber low and as long as I’m surrounded by nature and can get out in it my hopes and dreams and brain-pan feel awesome!

Basically, nature saved me. End of story.

I’ve been married for 10+ years to this guy and we travel the country ( USA ) about 6-8 months out of the year for his job. The other time is spent at our home in Montana, just kidding, southern Colorado is home. You’ll start to learn very quickly why my love for Montana is so strong. Colorado is cool too but, it’s not Montana.

We enjoy many things that make the West the greatest region of the USA! We love to hunt, fish, camp, hike, and many other outdoor activities!

Along with all that awesome jazz, I love encouraging women of all shapes, sizes, and fitness levels to enjoy and love the outdoors and adventure often! You’ll often see articles posted here about tips for plus-size women because that’s me!

I work on my fitness and my nutrition but, that doesn’t define who I am!

Enjoy the blog, if you like an article share it! If you want to chat, contact me!

Adventure on!
